The Egyptian Sphinx is a mythological figure depicted as a lion with a human head. The Greek Sphinx guarded the entrance to the city of Thebes, Greece, and travelers had to answer a riddle to enter the city. Sphinx mythology exists also in South and South-East Asia and is called "Human Beast", "Man Cat" and "Man Lion".
